I was wanting Helen and Paulo to finally get it on! Then something struck me, other than jealousy, can they eventually end up in the same chain of command thus hitting the regs as a stumbling block? Forgot their specialties. Suppose I should check the unreliable drunken wiki informant.

Which brings me to another question. Aren't Harrington and Hamish still straddling the letter of the regs? How was that handled? A blind-eye turned? Swept under the rug?

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

providing Helen & Paul end up in different departments their relationship would likely be ignored, as i recall they are too junior to truly specialise, though Helen wants command so will probably spend a lot of time in tactical slots. Paulo showed much promise for EW and while that has almost become a separate department I believe it is still technically part of the tactical section. so yes possibly an issue there in the future.

as to Hamish and Honor:

1 Hamish is now technically a civilian so not bound by military regs regarding relationships.

2 I'm not clear if the regs apply to married couples.

Didn't RFC also say at one time that he was warned that if he killed Honor/Nimitz, that he had best be prepared to become very familiar with the couch?

I think Toni Weisskopf would have something to say. The Honor Harrington books I believe are still the biggest sellers for Baen. Had Honor died, a lot of money would have been lost...well, it might have been.

I have this scene in my mind where Honor and her crew have finally captured the Detweilers, and are debating whether they can be put on public trial without causing all sorts of chaos. While they argue philosophical points and the law, Victor Cachat calmly walks down the row of prisoners, shooting each one in the back of the head. As the last one falls, he looks up and says, "That's solved. What's for lunch?"

Doubtful. There is supposed to be another arc following. Things will be suspended for around 20 years and then go on.

Victor makes so many things final. Also, chances of getting them all together is fairly small.

I'm not gonna hang my hat on this all getting tied up with a bow, either. RFC still has kids to put through college, remember.

That said, I'm not arguing with getting a proper final confrontation with the MAlign - or a glimpse as to what's happened to all my favorites 20 years on.

Besides, didn't RFC say something about fill-in-the-gap future tales set between UH and the start of the next arc?

What I really want also is finding out what happens to all my favorites. What happens to Abigail? Will she ever find love? Who moves up the ladder?

Some of that might be in the first book in the next arc. Perhaps Admiral Tremaine and Captain Helen Zilwicki d'Arezzo will take the young Harrington Alexander under their wings.

I really, really hope the treecats get a little taste of MAlign blood.
