There's textev that Manticore, Grayson, and Have do and Erewhon does not. I suspect Beowulf does not either.

I wonder if QEIII will consider letting them be tried in Chachalot or one of the other independent star nations targeted by Buccaneer? That might go a long way to signing up new Alliance members.

In my opinion, highly unlikely.

Really unlikely. She has two children already and another being prepared. She has always taken responsibility. I think she would have mourned the rest of her life but would have taken care of the kids.

I think Honor has too much moral integrity to suicide, especially if there are people such as family depending on her. That doesn't mean that she won't do something drastic when po-ed.

A few thoughts:

1. Those who think that MAlign's attack on Beowulf was minor should keep in mind it killed a lot of people and it was totally different from the attack on Manticore. That it happened at the same time as the attack from the League was useful. It would also, if things had not happened so quickly, have been a good tool against the Mandarins over the years. Instead, the top people in the League gave in.

2. As for the Harrington line, etc., we've talked for years about how difficult it would be to keep families involved over centuries. Too easy to have breaks, etc. All it might take is one person changing their mind or not having kids. Chances are there are a lot of hanging MAlign lines around who have no knowledge of those plans, etc.

3. Not all things can be wrapped up in one book unless the author puts in a final listing. So we don't know what will happen to most of the characters. Will there be an uneasy peace and slow promotion or will things go on and we'd see a lot of changes. Who knows? And that's something we can't figure out until maybe the next arc. If ever.

4. There have been complaints about the large number of characters. Part of that is because of the large tapestry painted. When the books only involved people on one ship, things were simpler. Now a lot of ships and folks are involved. It would be great if somehow authors could somehow let us know that these characters are not part of the main plot so we can forget them.

It wasn't just useful, it was intentional. They intended it to go that way so it would drive the Alliance into doing what Honor very nearly did.

I think what the Alignment is doing on Mesa regarding the Mesan Alignment's activities and existence was a mistake. Think my them announcing they've been voluntarily trying to genetically uplift themselves is too close to the truth. I'll make it easier to identify their strategic goals.

I've talked about the one thing that I would've (and should have) changed in Shadow of Victory if my health had been better (and my head had been clear), but without the work I spent on characters there, a couple of significant plot strands in Uncompromising would have had no place to stand.

I missed that thread/con panel/etc, could someone fill me in on what David wishes he'd wrote differently in SoV?

Found here.

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

Apparently the thought of killing her off only to encounter me at HonorCon later this year was a bit too terrifying for His Celeryness. I am also extremely grateful that he spared her, as I'd have hated to have to kill him.

SEE, Your Celeryness?? I'm totally Allen's destined soulmate!! You know you wanna make it happen! :P :P :P 8-)

LMAO

That would be the theme of the wedding reception. I doubt a treecat could survive the emotional glee.
