I would put treecats learning to sign under the even bigger decision (turning point) of the treecats revelation to humans of just how smart they actually were.

I can't get over thinking about a time when treecats are more visible and commonplace in public. When they encounter deaf children who can readily communicate with them. Their intelligence will definitely shine thru then. And non-signing adults may feel less intelligent; challenged. Especially when a treecat's mannerisms and observations are turned upon the "emotionally" disdainful. Like Spock raising a brow.

I must respectfully disagree, and submit that treecat signing was not a turning point of the Haven War(s). They had barely begun learning to sign before Buttercup kicked off, which would be the conclusion of the First, and start of the Second. And treecat signing had absolutely no influence on that series of events.

But if we started a list of turning points in anything regarding The Onion, and the MAlign, I'd agree that treecat signing, and the unveiling of how smart those critters really are, is definitely a huge impact.

I could be wrong, Somtaaw, but I read it as if Vince meant it as a turning point of a "time" the cats decided to finally reveal their intelligence, NOT as a turning point in the war. (Although, ripples could linger.)

Also, we cannot overlook any intangible influence there may have been off-screen. Ariel could have been even more of a strength and support to Elizabeth. And Nimitz to Honor.

But your point is well taken.

I was reminded of a single event that marked a very important turning point for both the RHN, RMN and Grayson, a clean sweep. It was the defection of key Peep officers like Alfredo Yu and their acceptance into the GSN and eventual trust and acceptance by Honor. Their act of treason was tantamount to a political death sentence for them - but martyred their name in the eyes of the most honorable Havenite officers. It was a turning point to the back stretch of the rule of Oscar Saint-Just.
