** ACTI Spoiler ** The B plot

Sorry folks, I appreciate the ingenious attempts to discern some reasonable purpose for the 'Chomps' plot, but they all seem like fairly desperate grasping at straws to me. The whole thing just looks like filler. For this book it is filler. Even if it somehow turns out to have a bigger purpose later I feel it's poor judgement to have made it such a large part of ACTI.

Or... It could be that there is a tie in to the main plot that will show up in future. Or maybe it's just a way of keeping Chomps involved. I don't know. I enjoyed the story, though. For me at least, that's the main thing.

I have my doubts that such a large portion of the book was dedicated to something that hasn't a tie in later on. I guess we will have that moment in the next book where we go oooooh when we discover something obvious that has been dangled in front of us in the B-plot.

I agree. It could be filler, but it isn't likely. David isn't know for fillers and is known for throwing details out before he needs to make use of them. And with three authors, I really don't seem them running out of ideas or the ability to type. It's been four years since ACTV anyway.

Axelrod has some really deep pockets based on all that they are shown to be doing. Ok, they conned some people into providing funding BUT that is also all part of deflection and deniability when they expect to move in and grab the wormhole. How many little fleets of mercenary warships do they still have in-play at this point? And what is their normal (visable if not strictly legal except if you run a planet) sources of income?

You have a valid question there and it's a good topic, but I'm wondering if you're trying to make a connection to the B plot of the book and I'm not following you.
