Parks' redeployment was the action of an *unlucky* officer.
Unlucky officers tend to get relieved.

Furthermore, that redeployment divided his task force.
Had things gone a bit otherwise,
he might have been defeated in detail.

Parks too the information, asked or accepted suggestions from his officers and made his call. He disagreed with Sarnow but did leave Sarnow to cover the original position with the anticipation of further reinforcements (which did show up in a nick of time).

As soon as Parks was told about the discovery of the Peeps survalience network he reallized he had been wrong and moved as fast as possible to correct that. From that point forward in that part of the campaign he (and his forces) performed very well. I guess after reading opinions, a few ideas of what Parks could have been doing come to mind..

Post Hancock 1 he retained command of that nodal position for a number of years. Perhaps he was viewed, in the post Yeltsin 4 time period, as a good officer to rotate down towards Grendelsbane? Or, perhaps he was sent out to Erewhon as the senior military liaison to them until Ashes of Victory and 'peace.' From there, of course, he would have been immediately beached by Janacek for daring to suggest a Young should face court martial.

Following something along those lines, we would then have at the start of the 2nd war the following Admirals senior to Parks: White Haven (not serving - civilian post), Caparelli, Givens (assuming), Cortez (assuming), Hemphill, Kuzak, D'Orville, and technically Webster. We know that D'Orville had Home Fleet, Caparelli, Givens, and Cortez were in administration, Hemphill was in R&D, and Kuzak had 3rd fleet (eventually). Grendelsbane is gone, Sarnow is in Silesia, Khumalo in the Quandrant, and Webster on Sol. Trevor's Star and Manticore are both covered - but there is one important post that is not covered which also has barely been mentioned (that I can remember) since Operation Thunderbolt.

My prediction is Parks is in command of Basilisk Station, covering the the junction terminus there and the sector. He has the seniority for the post, we have no clue who has it, and the first thing White Haven and Caparelli would have wanted to do once the war resumed after securing Manticore was get Trevor's Star (1) and Basilisk (2) covered.

Thoughts? Anyone know if David would address this and at least say if Parks is alive or dead?
