The problem with your idea is the same as the reason the MAlign's Graser Torpedoes only fires for three seconds.

Yeah... normal grasers only fire for a split second. The Mesan GTs can fire for longer, but only at the expense of frying/destroying themselves after a single shot. No way to get Babylon 5-style raking shots with standard shipboard grasers.

The graser's "gun port" incorporates a grav lens for final focusing; it should also allow a limited amount of beam steering.
