just bought OBS and HotQ on MP3 cd, and trying to put them on my ipad I've found the strangest problem.
copied first one to Itunes no issues and it transferred straight to pad when told. Seeing that this was going fairly easily i decided to add book 2 as well and this is where it gets strange. Copied to itunes no problems but when copied to ipad error messages for OBS station came up. HotQ runs fine on pad, but if it has been put on pad then OBS will not copy over. however if i delete both from itunes library and pad, then add OBS to library again (but not HotQ) it will copy across and run fine. these were meant to be a present for my father who struggles to find time to read but goes though audibooks almost as quick as i go through normal books. I can load them on one at a time and replace them when he is done but it annoys me and seems odd that i can't have both on the pad at the same time |

I don't like Apple products because of its proprietary nature. Solving problems isn't so straight forward. Their software is even proprietary. If you have determined that the files are not corrupt, and it seems they are not from what you have posted, I would try a few different things. 1. Try loading the files each in their own folder if the ipad allows it. 2. Try renaming the files. 3. Find out which format (mp3) has several formats. mpeg-1 through mpeg-3. Check the support for the ipad. There are online programs that will let you "reproduce" the files and perhaps produce different versions with header files that will not confuse the ipad. 4. If the ipad supports other music formats, try and convert with free online converters and try to load them. 5. Search forums, internet for others with your same prob that may have already been solved. 6. Make sure your firmware is up to date. 7. Try playing the files on another source as well, as your computer and even another mp3 player other than an Apple product. Good luck. Which ipad do you have exactly? Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. 1) nope. they are either a part of the library or they are deleted. no way to seperate. 2)worth a try, though doing so in such a way as to keep the order could be tricky. 3)i'll see if I can find out 4)apple basically converts any music added to its library to an apple music file, really don't think it will run any other type but will check. 5)worth a look 6)everything software, both itunes and the pads is fully up to date 7) files run fine in media player i'm running an old ipad 2 (yes it is almost a fossil) my dad's is somewhat newer and is an ipad mini, 2nd gen i think. it is just so odd. i've copied well over a 1000+ songs into the itunes library and this is first time i've ever had a problem with an audio file thanks for the suggestions. |

been doing some looking around the nt and there look to be 3 ways to fix this.
option 1) convert to mp4 and then send them to itunes and they should end up in audio books. though still not sure this will fix the more then 1 book problem option 2) just buy them from itunes. quick and easy. shame they want twice as much as the actual real world physical disc copy. wouldn't mind that so much if i was sure the difference would actually go in RFC's pocket and not apple's (ok that price differential only looks to be for the MP3 honorverse books, apples prices are quite competitive compared to a standard audio CD) option 3) buy a cd player that will run mp3 CDs. if amazon is any guide then you can get one for about £40. given that you'll be saving on average £6 a book if you go with the CDs ($9) you can claw back that money quite quick. interesting note. only the honourverse have the mp3 CD versions. the other series it gives you (safehold, prince roger) are download or normal CD. the normal CD are what i tend to expect costs wise. i.e. anywhere between £20 and £60 depending on size and popularity. apple's prices for the safehold are quite low comparatively at about $40, amazon has several going at about £60 for CD. not price given for download as that is done via Audible and technically the book is free there is an £8 a month fee. I don't want to loose my audiobooks if i have to cancel a membership, so i'll stick with apple or real world CDs normal or MP3. that way i at least will always have them (barring EMP or house fire or some other disaster ) |

If he listens to several audiobooks a month maybe a subscription to audible is an option. Had that for a while when I was in a menial kind of job, works great. Costs about 10-13 euro's a book depending on the subscription type, and they have an app for android and IOS. it evens supports cross platform listening, so continuing on your ipad where you left off on your iphone etc.

google program called mp3 book helper download and install
its free have each book in separate folder open up one of the folders using mp3 bookhelper select the third tab from the left called tags it will show how all the files are tagged: filename , track title , book/alblum , author/artist ect once in this window at the top left corner is a box setID3 select 2&1 this is best setting for books in iTunes Look at both books I bet the file name or book name is the same this program will let you change them so itunes and your pad will not get confused good luck |

There is a program called iTools that is released in China and can be found easily here in the US that can sync audio onto Apple devices much more easily than iTunes (which is a horrible train wreck of a piece of software). Might want to give it a try.
Also worth mentioning that for problem files I use iFunbox to add audio files straight into the file system and use a jailbreak app called Bridge to sync those files from the raw file system into the stock player, you can also usually use a combination of VLC player, iFile, and iFunbox (meaning add the files with iFunbox, access them with iFile and choose to "Open in" VLC), granted this means jail breaking (which I recommend) which is beyond the scope of this post. |
