It's probably more a case that because of the points munroburton mentions such a hit requires the perfect angle making it something of a golden BB.

There has been speculation here in the past, based on some vague statements by RFC, that the next RMN podnaught designs might have ventral and/or dorsal pod-launchers, which would greatly reduce the rear-hatch vulnerability.
